Martin Scott gives us his story on how he became an undercover narcotics agent.
Scott was born in a rough area an did not have much money growing up to do anything.
One day he was looking for tires in a junk yard and got caught by a police officer and after that incident that turned his life around.
“I was making $1000 a month, that was back in 1964. It just happened that I ran into a buddy of mine. A bud from Cambridge Police Department. He would always tell me that I should try to be a police officer”.
Scott was 22 years old and did not graduate high school with a wife and two kids. Ever since the officer came up to him all he could think about was becoming a police officer.
Scott had to go back to school. He went to school all day and worked all night at the plant just so he could become a police officer.
Scott did one year of college and after that he went back to the Cambridge Police Department.
He busted some kids in the streets and brought the drugs to BCII.
While he was at BCII the superintendent wanted to see him. ” I went into his office, Dwight Joseph’s was a man’s man. He really was, he was the retired chief of police in Columbus Ohio”. Scott’s discerption on Dwight Joseph
Joseph said ” we have 18 agents here and I don’t think one could pop a fart in a closet. They weren’t buying any drugs”.
Superintendent Joseph was not happy with his current under cover narcotics agents.
Dwight proceeds to say ” I would like to hire you Scott. You won’t be the agent in charge but you will be the assistant agent in charge of all operations. Guys who aren’t doing their job will be canned. I want guys who aren’t afraid .”
Scott had n clue what was going on. He was afraid of losing his job in Cambridge, instead Dwight Joseph hired him to make the apartment better.
After being hired Scott had to change is appearance. He grew his hair and beard out so he could fit in. He changed his name for each case. Each case could last up to 12 weeks.
Scott never thought he would be a police officer, but he remembered being given a second chance when he tried to take those tires as a child and that gave him hope. Officer Scott would give people second chances just like he got.
